Our client is an established independent group seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Optical Dispensing & Hearing Care Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous optical dispensing experience who is keen to develop their skills within both optical and hearing care. You will work across multiple practices in Hampshire, supporting patients throughout their journey and helping to deliver an exceptional standard of care.
The Role
The role offers excellent variety, combining optical dispensing, hearing care support, patient administration and microsuction, with opportunities to develop additional skills through ongoing training.
Key Responsibilities

Assist patients with frame selection and provide advice on suitable lens options.

Participate in the Optometrist handover process and take accurate dispensing measurements.

Process, monitor and check spectacle orders, including carrying out focimetry.

Carry out spectacle fittings, adjustments and minor repairs.

Maintain accurate patient records and process payments.
-
Support Optical Assistants with pre-screening and administrative duties.
-
Support patients throughout their hearing care journey and assist with clinic administration.

Perform ear wax removal using microsuction, within training, competency and regulatory guidelines.

Maintain accurate clinical records, consent forms and referrals.

Assist with hearing aid fittings, troubleshooting and basic repairs.

Recognise opportunities to refer patients to the Audiologist where appropriate.

Maintain equipment, stock levels and high standards of clinical cleanliness.

Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with GDPR, company procedures and relevant professional standards.
About You
-
Previous spectacle dispensing experience is essential.

HCA qualification, or willingness to undertake relevant training.

GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent.

Previous microsuction experience would be advantageous, but training can be provided.

Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable car.

Comfortable travelling between practices across Hampshire.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Friendly, professional and passionate about delivering outstanding patient care.

Adaptable and comfortable working across different sites and departments.

Well organised, proactive and confident using IT systems, including Word and Excel.

Enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills as the role continues to evolve.
