Dispensing Optician - Office based role - Tunbridge Wells

We are seeking a professional and organised Dispensing Optician to join our client’s office-based team in Tunbridge Wells. You will work closely with the Director and be part of a friendly, supportive team. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills and an understanding of sales who enjoys delivering excellent service over the phone.

Royal Tunbridge Wells is a well-regarded and attractive town in Kent, known for its historic charm, excellent transport links to London, and vibrant town centre. The area offers a mix of independent shops, cafés, green spaces, and cultural attractions, making it a pleasant place to work and commute to.

Key Responsibilities

  • Making outbound calls to family members to discuss eye test results in a clear, professional, and sensitive manner

  • Explaining prescriptions and optical recommendations accurately and confidently

  • Taking orders over the phone and processing them efficiently

  • Handling incoming calls and responding to enquiries

  • Booking and managing appointments when required

  • Providing high levels of customer care and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Supporting the Director and wider team with administrative and optical-related tasks

  • Ensuring accurate record keeping and compliance with data protection requirements

About You

  • Strong telephone manner and communication skills

  • Confidence in discussing products and services, with an understanding of sales principles

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills

  • Comfortable working in an office-based environment

  • Friendly, professional, and empathetic approach

  • Reliable and detail-oriented

  • Team player who can also work independently

  • Confident when speaking with patients and family members
