We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Optical Dispenser / Dispensing Assistant to join a friendly and professional practice in Alresford.
The Dispensing Assistant role is key within the dispensing team, working within clear boundaries under the supervision of a qualified Dispensing Optician or Optometrist. You will deliver dispensing services to the highest professional standard while building positive relationships with patients and colleagues. Acting as the essential link between the consulting room and the dispensing process, you will ensure a smooth and high-quality patient experience.

Deliver exceptional customer service with a positive, polite, and professional approach at all times

Accurately complete administrative tasks, ensuring clinical records are up to date and compliant with GDPR and data protection requirements

Handle financial transactions securely and in line with company procedures

Support Optical Assistants when required, including assisting with pre-screening and general practice duties

Participate in the three-way handover between the Optometrist and the patient to ensure a seamless transition into dispensing

Confidently assist patients with frame selection, lens recommendations, and precise measurements (using iPad technology where applicable)

Carry out focimetry of lenses and monitor spectacle orders, liaising with suppliers and patients as needed

Ensure all spectacles are quality checked, correctly fitted, and adjusted for patient comfort

Perform minor spectacle and hearing aid repairs

Resolve patient queries or concerns promptly, escalating when appropriate

Work within the scope of your competence and seek support when required

Maintain excellent personal presentation and ensure the practice environment and displays are well presented

Act as a positive ambassador for the company, upholding its values and commitment to outstanding patient care

Previous spectacle dispensing experience is essential

A Level 3 Optical Assistant qualification is desirable

Excellent communication skills and a strong passion for customer service

Good IT skills (e.g. Word, Excel) and strong organisational abilities

Enthusiastic, adaptable, and willing to learn new skills in an evolving role
