Ashby-de-la-Zouch is a charming market town steeped in history, nestled in the heart of Leicestershire. Known for its medieval castle ruins—once a grand manor house featured in Ivanhoe—Ashby blends historic character with a vibrant modern feel. The town boasts a bustling high street filled with independent shops, cosy cafés, traditional pubs, and regular markets, all set against a backdrop of attractive Georgian and Tudor architecture. Its proximity to the National Forest adds a touch of natural beauty and offers plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, and outdoor activities.
Ashby is well-connected by road, located near the A42 and A511, offering easy access to Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, and Birmingham. While it doesn't have a railway station, nearby Burton upon Trent and Tamworth provide regular train services to major cities. Local buses and scenic walking routes make it easy to get around and enjoy everything the town and surrounding countryside have to offer.
